The Retreat is an End of Life hospice facility for cats. We do not accept cats from the general public; we only receive cats through trusted partner organizations. Once again, we do not accept cats from the public at large. Any cat left at our door will be sent to El Paso Animal Services.

The Fall Holiday & Giving Season
As we prepare for Halloween & Dia de los Muertos, we want to thank our newest graphics volunteer Hunter Swalve for her wonderful Halloween card for sending to our friends and donors. Neither Mrs H or me can draw worth a lick and having a professional give us a virtual hand is great. Expect to see her works over then next few weeks.
As we go into the fall giving season, we request your help in taking care of our kitties. Use the donate tab for our various options or us the Privy Purse link below to donate for our vet care only fund.

Welcome to Mandarin’s Retreat, a private home in El Paso, Texas moonlighting as a 501c(3) nonprofit haven for old, sick and abused cats. Please take a look around, meet our kitties and give us a follow on your social media platform of preference. Our rescue started out under circumstances that could politely be called “emergency” ones and while we have contributed almost $60,000 in 2025, of our own money. Expenses in 2025 exceeded $90K. We have no paid staff and only one part time volunteer beside the two of us. If you have some spare change rattling about in your pocket, please consider helping us help the sick kitties in our care.
